ENDURANCE®-XL PLUS is considered LT Resources’ third generation of highway-rail grade crossings.

The “first generation”, ENDURANCE®, was developed in 1998 to address inconsistencies and performance issues related to treated timber crossings. LT Resources’ grade crossings manufactured with the original ENDURANCE® formulation, which consisted of auto shredder residue (ASR) and plastic, were produced for 10 years — from 1998 until 2008.

The “next generation”, ENDURANCE®-XL, was introduced to the marketplace in 2008 with the same basic design as ENDURANCE® but manufactured using a superior engineered plastics formulation and patented technology to produce a product seven to eight times stronger than the original ENDURANCE® product.

LT Resources’ introduced ENDURANCE®-XL PLUS to the marketplace in 2013.  ENDURANCE®-XL PLUS was developed with direct input from Class 1 railroads to address performance issues with traditional crossing surface materials. Using the proven ENDURANCE®-XL formulation and incorporating several design improvements to address the Class 1 operating environment, the ENDURANCE®-XL PLUS design was implemented after two years of successful in-track prototype testing with various Class 1 railroads.

ENDURANCE®-XL PLUS design improvements include:

• Full-Depth Solid Panel Design for Use with 8’6”, 9’ or 10’ Treated Wood or Composite Ties
• Accommodates 112/115# and 132/136/141# Rail Profiles
• Accommodates all Types of Fastening Systems
• Built-in Composite Flangeway Filler
• Lifting Devices for Easy Installation and Easy Removal for Track Maintenance
• Improved Skid Resistant Surface
